Treatment time is scheduled for a full hour including evaluation using
the McKenzie Method. Evaluation results
are discussed in detail at the initial visit. In some cases the evaluation
includes the initial home program and 1-2 follow-up visits if the findings
are not clear on the first visit.
Once a clear treatment diagnosis or direction of preference is identified,
follow-up appointments are scheduled one at a time on an as needed basis
to assess the progress, response to treatment and next progression of the
home program.

McKenzie Method (Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment): This is a systematic approach to evaluating that has been tested and proven over the past 30 years to be more accurate and reliable than MRI or X-rays in determining the best course of treatment for painful, restricted spine or extremity joints.
Manual therapy: massage, myo-fascial release, scar massage, passive hands on stretching, traction, joint mobilization or spinal mobilization.
Therapeutic exercises: Postural training, direction specific movement exercises (that can easily be implemented at home or work throughout the day to increase effectiveness), training in how to perform gym exercises (using weights or pulleys), and stretching exercises when indicated.
Therapeutic activities: This includes training in how to bend, lift, get out of bed, get up from the floor, sleeping postures and modification to functional activities that cause pain or may cause injury over time.
Assessment of walking pattern: Using treadmill or floor walking to evaluate gait pattern, then recommendations are made regarding how to improve gait pattern when walking, running or when using an assistive device.
Modalities: ultrasound, moist heat, cold packs, set up with TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) unit or home traction.
Reports are sent to physicians, attorneys or other agencies as needed or when requested by the client.
Multi-disciplinary treatment: With many client conditions, there is more than physical therapy treatment needed to resolve the conditions. Ted can help to determine the best direction of treatment and give referrals to a number of other health care providers or services including pool therapy, massage, acupuncture, chiropractic and counseling services.
