Back In Action Physical Therapy has been a long time dream of mine even before attending physical therapy school at Loma Linda University. The complications of third party payers and lack of business training kept me from starting my dream business for 16 years before opening my doors on June 5, 2006.

While working at a pain management center in Minnesota for 5 years and having full hour treatment times to work with clients, I developed an interest in the effects of alternative medicine. While working in pain management I saw clients who had no improvement from spinal fusion, injections or drug therapy. In addition I saw some significant improvement in client conditions over time with some alternative treatments including healing touch, hypnotherapy, relaxation and gentle movement exercises including pool therapy.

After moving to Portland and training in the McKenzie Method from 2003 to 2004 I decided the next logical step was to pursue this dream of starting my own business. One of the motivating factors in starting my own business is the desire to work with my own GLBT community and those who are open minded to accept what they cannot understand.

Now I am enjoying working with clients on a relaxed schedule allowing me to get to know the clients situation better thereby giving better care or making appropriate referrals to other healthcare practitioners in order to help my clients achieve the pain-free lifestyle they deserve.

Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my website. I hope that something here has been helpful to you. If you would like to discuss any issues regarding your healthcare or benefits of physical therapy evaluation or treatment please contact me.

Ted Ellquist outside of Back In Action:

Living in the Northwest fits much of my lifestyle as a person. I enjoy hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing, backpacking, travel, visiting local unique shops and tasting the wonderful variety of food Portland has to offer.

I live with my 9 year old yellow lab (Buddy) and black shorthair cat (Sambo) in NE Portland close to Beaumont Village. At home I enjoy gardening, yard work, house projects, preparing meals, sitting on the back patio to enjoy the cool "gusty" evenings on the Alameda ridge and spending time with my boyfriend.
